Create and edit calendars.

In the simplest case, you create one calendar for each school year. Fill in the school year and leave the "Term" blank.

The Start and End Dates are the start and end dates of your school year. (Duh!) (You can leave a gap between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next, e.g. summer vacation, or they can overlap if you wish.)

If you want the program to be able to schedule your class work for the year, be sure to fill in the rest of the screen accurately.

Check the boxes under the days of the week that you normally work.

Enter any break -- holidays or vacations -- that you plan to take during the school year. It doesn't make that much difference whether you enter one-day breaks, but you should enter longer ones.

Multiple Calendars

You can create multiple calendars for a school year. You distinguish them by specifying a "Term". There are (at least) two reaons to create multiple calendars for a year.

  1. You have some classes that you will only teach for part of the year. For example, you might study English and Math all year, but study Art in the fall and Music in the spring. In that case, you would create three calendars: one for the whole year, perhaps with a blank term name; one for the fall, with a term name of "fall"; and one for the spring, with a term name of "spring".
  2. You have different calendars for different students. Perhaps Bobby prefers long breaks for Christmas and Easter and lots of little holidays; while Sally works best with just a couple of days for Christmas and Easter and no other breaks, but then not having to work as hard each day that she is working. In that case, you could create a separate term for each child.
