Popular vote method: Simple (same rules as the board game) Better (more complicated but gives more realistic results)
The program lists the states. Click the radio button next to the leading party in each state. If a state is tied, or has no voter markers at all, click "X".
The program counts the number of states and electoral votes for each candidate. It then gives 2 estimates of popular vote: THe "simple" estimate is calculated using the board game rules. The "better" estimate uses the number of voters in each state and assumes the winner in a 2 candidate race gets 60% and the loser gets 40%, or when there are more than 3 candidates that the winner gets 50% and the losers split the rest. This gives closer, and more realistic, percentages than the simple rule.
